FISHPOND RISK

Our Bailiffs have reported that someone was seen depositing a bucket of fish into the Fishpond from a garden pond no longer in use. Whilst all good intentions were probably for keeping those fish alive, unfortunately there are statutory controls on the movement of fish and the practice is illegal for very good reasons. We have no way of knowing the health of the fish or the breed introduced and consequently whether contaminants may have been introduced to the pond which could affect the health of the entire stock. If anyone knows anything about this, could they please get in touch. The Parish Council will arrange for the water of the neighbour's pond to be tested so that contamination possibilities can be identified. Rest assured, any information will be handled in the strictest confidence, we simply want to be forewarned of any problems which may take time to appear.
