Emergency Closure Footpath 17
Published: 24 October 2023
Aggregate Industries have notified us that they are having to close the well-used footpath that runs along the west side of Newbold Quarry - parallel to Dunstall Road – because the heavy rain on Friday 20 Oct has eroded the path and exposed a live HV electricity cable.
AI are going to assess whether a diverted route can be achieved somehow, but AI site staff think there may be no room, other than
diverting people on to the road, which would not be safe.
AI will look at posting signage at the far ends of the path to prevent people walking 20 minutes up/down the route to find they can't go further.
At the moment we simply didn't know when the path can be re-opened due to the reliance on National Grid regarding procedures needing to be followed when reinstating the ground around the cable. The company will advises us further as they know more and we will post an update when we have further information
