Barton Firefighters - Recruiting
Published: 09 December 2024
Residents of Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service need you…
Our local fire station is recruiting on-call firefighters to join the crew and help make a difference.
Barton-under-Needwood Community Fire Station are looking for members of the community who want to make a difference, help people in their time of need, make new friends and earn an additional income.
On-call firefighters are fully trained firefighters who instead of being based at the fire station 24/7, they respond when there is an emergency.
There are currently nine on-call firefighters who provide on-call cover here to be able to respond a range of fire and rescue emergencies. Our longest serving on-call firefighter has been in the service for 35 years and our newest on-call firefighter joined the crew nearly two months ago.
Being an on-call firefighter is not a voluntary role as they have to provide a certain number of hours each week to being on-call. However, many of our on-call firefighters fit those hours around their other commitments such as primary employment, childcare or hobbies.
Some of the jobs our on-call firefighters here at Barton-under-Needwood have range from working in IT, in a brewery, an engineer, farmer and a labourer.
If you could see yourself as part of the crew, if you want to make a difference where you live and you want to become a firefighter, why not get in touch.
You can contact On-Call Darren Thompson by calling 07967 573573 or emailing darren.thompson@staffordshirefire.gov.uk. You could also pop down to meet some of the crew on their weekly training session on Wednesday nights.
