SCC Needwood Forum

Last Thursday I was pleased to welcome the community highways team, many residents, Parish Council representatives, and the Speed Action Groups for Main Street, Captain’s Lane, Bar Green/Dogshead Lane at Barton under Needwood Village Hall.
Several other roads and lanes, and associated issues were also discussed, including planning applications. A Feasibility Study will now be scoped to review the roads and traffic in and around Barton. This will establish whether any further traffic calming measures or initiatives are required. The highways team, the parish council and I will investigate the cost and funding for this village wide project.
Amongst the other topics was the Barton Gate junction. A new ‘Give Way’ sign on the junction is still imminent. I have also requested at my subsequent highways meeting on Friday a very large ‘Give Way’ sign on the C18 at the village gateway sign, approaching the junction. This is to be installed using my community highways fund. I have also requested that the highways environmental team clear the hedge from the current sign as an interim measure.
